From the 1940s to the 1970s, Alberto Vargas was a regular contributing artist for Esquire and Playboy magazine.  His models are painted often elegantly dressed or semi-nude to nude of idealized proportions with nails painted red. His work was typically a combination of watercolor and airbrush. Later his mastery of the airbrush artistry is acknowledged by the founding of the Vargas Award.    Click on each image to enlarge.
