ALBERTO VARGAS "Vargas Vanities"
Playing Cards Collection
1896 - 1982
In the 1940s, he became famous as “Varga” as the creator of iconic World War II-era pin-up art, known as “Varga Girls." During the war, pin-up art was a part of GI's lifestyle, and the Varga Girls inspired much of the nose art. In the early 1950s, Vargas' own deck of pin-up playing cards, "Vargas Vanities," was issued after the war. Click on each image to enlarge.
